Success Story
Sarah Bell, Senior Quality Analyst
Joined LexisNexis Visualfiles in 1998 as a Support Analyst
I began working for LexisNexis Visualfiles in 1998 working as a Support Analyst within the Support Department. My role involved resolving support calls dealing with both LexisNexis Visualfiles software and other 3rd party products, such as Microsoft Office, Windows 95/98 and NT and Progress.
After a short break in 2000 I rejoined LexisNexis Visualfiles as a consultant in 2002, having jumped at the opportunity to work for the company once again. My Consultant role involved working within the Professional Services department as part of a team providing on-site consultancy and business analysis to the LexisNexis Visualfiles’ client base on the range of products and development tools. This is a brilliant role to work in within LexisNexis Visualfiles, allowing you to see our software in use in the real world, meet new people and build new relationships. No two consultancy days are the same. In July 2003 I was promoted from a Consultant position to Senior Consultant. This was an achievement I am really proud of and is an example of how LexisNexis Visualfiles rewards and recognises its staff.
After working in Professional Services for two and a half years, I applied for an internal position as a Senior Quality Analyst within the QA Department and was lucky enough to be the successful candidate. As well as testing new software builds to help determine whether they can be released, I get to see new modules of our software as soon as they are written and play with new technology. My role within this department is really varied, definitely not the boring task that some people may perceive testing as.
I have been fortunate to have been able to experience some great things whilst with LexisNexis Visualfiles, for example, being involved with developing internal systems, being involved in User Conferences and seeing the early stages of new software. I have had 3 positions whilst working for the company and have never felt held back or tied by a predefined career path. Members of staff are actively encouraged to develop their skills, for example by attending training courses and master classes.
Enthusiasm and hard work is rewarded with the opportunity to develop your career and work in a truly fun and unique environment.
