Joined LexisNexis Visualfiles in 1987 as a Analyst/ Programmer
After training as a COBOL programmer I started working for Solicitec (Now known as LexisNexis Visualfiles) as an Analyst/Programmer in 1987. I quickly became involved with installation, implementation and on-site consultancy. As the company continued to grow I became established as a Project Manager with full responsibility for delivering and implementing systems. During this time I was also closely involved with designing and delivering training courses for both end users and systems developers. The developing role of project manager grew to include managing a team of 5 consultants. This gave responsibility for their personal development as well as ensuring that systems were delivered on time and within budget.
In 2002 I was given a special project with responsibility for developing and delivery integration tools for customers. These tools allowed customers to send and receive instructions from clients using the latest web based technologies. This project involved working closely with customers, developers and third party software suppliers.
At the end of the integration project I was then offered the opportunity to work as Software Quality Manager. This gave me responsibility for testing software before release. In addition I also agreed to take on responsibility for online Help files and documentation and currently manage a mixed team of 5 Quality Analysts and Technical Authors.
This is the latest in a long line of exciting opportunities at LexisNexis Visualfiles. As always I have been actively encouraged to undertake training and also to look for innovative solutions to problems. Each day provides new challenges and opportunities. The key to my current role is seeking excellence by delivering high quality goods and services.
LexisNexis Visualfiles remains as exciting and vibrant now as when I first started in 1987. I have been able to explore such a variety of career moves within the company that I have never felt the need to look elsewhere for challenges and I can confidently say that I enjoy working for LexisNexis Visualfiles now as much as ever. A great company to work for.
